#18 After a long journey we finally found a village. Or multiple of them actually. The environment changed as well, which explained the lack of people. The forest became denser and more dangerous. There weren’t that many big monsters that would have been easy to spot and deal with as there were small and sneaky ones. It was hard just walking in the forest and we had to be vigilant for any sneak attacks as well. There were some that were camouflaged into the trees and other vegetation and others that were small and quick which made it hard to spot them with all the trees and other things in the way.   The elf had no problems though, but she never warned us about any dangers. Layla didn’t warn us either. Well that isn’t completely true there was one situation where she saved Ranns life. I was happy to see that. I was also really shocked to see that something that dangerous almost happened. I considered just burning the whole forest down so we could pass safely but that

Bird

22. Bird The flying creature is too fast to dodge. I grip my dagger hard and brace for the impact by holding my hands near my chest where it looks like the flying creature will hit me. It opens its peak instead and bites down on me. I push as hard as I can with my hands, but I can’t break free. All it does is soften the bite. It is starting to take me higher. I have to get out. I worm my hand out of its mouth and stab its eye with my dagger. Blood squirts out and the creatures screams out letting me go from its mouth. I fall to the water which splashes all around. The ground is soft, and it is hard to get up.  I struggle to get free from the ground. I stand up while I look up and see the bird circling around in the sky. I run to the bank and get out of the water.  I quickly glance and see that there is a bit of distance before the flying creature can get to me. Should I fight or run? It is very fast so I doubt I can run away from it. Fighting seems difficult si

#17 Things have been pretty uneventful lately. No big monsters that needed me to fight them. No villages that needed rescuing. Actually, there hasn’t been any villages on our path. If I try asking the elf about nearby villages or things like that, she just ignores me. She also ignores me if I try asking her about herbs and minerals so I can’t advance my research either. Well I still try mixing things randomly from time to time but with unknown herbs I don’t dare try them out on myself or others here. I do try them out on the beasts that we encounter but unless the effect is quick and big enough for us to see then we get nothing out of it. There have been some interesting results such as color change or fur growth or loss. I have been marking down the herbs and mixes that produce results, but it would be nice if I could learn more. I have been thinking about taking with us a small pet which I could use for experiments. That way we could see if there are any long-term e

Morning snake

18. Morning snake Something is licking my hand. The tongue shape is weird too. It branches out at the end, so it feels like there are two tongues licking me. I open my eyes and the sun light hits my eyes directly. I move my other hand to block the light and see that it is the snake that is licking my hand. How adorable. It didn’t even try to eat the children during the night. Even without fangs it could have swallowed them whole. Of course, I would have woken up if it left my lap, but it shouldn’t have known that. I wonder why it is acting so well. If someone pulled away my teeth, I would really dislike them. I pet the snake. The scales feel smooth under my hand. I don’t want this snake to die. I can’t let the children practice fighting against snakes with this one. Susie will probably not be alright with this but maybe this will be good for her too. Okay that might be wishful thinking, but I do hope that she can get a long with this snake. I l

#16 I got the elf! She protested a lot and the elves were against it, but the white-haired elf sighed and told her to go with us. She absolutely refused to go with us. She started panicking since she could see that the white-haired elf wasn’t going to change her mind. The white-haired elf went up to her and hugged her. She then whispered somethings to her and after a while the beautiful elf calmed down. I got pretty annoyed by all this. It is not like she was being sacrificed or anything. She will be coming with me on an adventure, she will see the outside world and interact with all kinds of people. We are strong individuals too so she will be as safe as she can be. I am not even demanding anything from her. I am being much nicer than what I was with Layla. Still I didn’t say anything. I do understand that it is hard to leave with a group of strangers. They can’t really know what kind of people we are. In some cases, it really might be the same as sacrificing h

Creek

21. Creek  Something moves on top of me and it suddenly gets colder. I open my eyes to see the fur ball jump down from on top of me. It is very bright. The sunshine feels uncomfortable. I block it with my hand and look at the fur ball again. It is just eating grass on the ground. I yawn. My body feels alright right now. Where is the pain? I am not hungry either. It feels nice. What should I do now? There is still the ant corpse here. I don’t have to worry about food for a while. I need to drink water so I should keep moving probably to find water. I can’t just stay here and rest. Even though it would be nice to stay here. Maybe I should return here after finding water. Yeah, I will do that. But for now, I need to go find water. After eating. Yes. First, I eat. I get up from the ground, the grass feels soft. My wounds do hurt when I move but it doesn’t feel bad. I should avoid getting hurt in the future. I should get stronger in the future. I pick
